A system of lightning protection consists of several integral components: the lightning rods, conductor cable and ground rods. The lightning rods are placed along your home’s ridge including dormers, wings, and chimneys. The lightning rods are connected by conductor cable, which terminates at the ground rods, driven into the ground for a good connection with the earth. This creates the low resistance path to ground for the lightning to travel, thus preventing damage to the structure and contents preventing lightning from entering your home, protecting occupants.

While lightning rods help protect a structure and all occupants from a direct strike, a complete lightning protection system, including utility bonding, proper grounding, and surge protection help prevent harmful electrical surges and possible fires caused by lightning entering a structure via wire and pipes. Complete home lightning protection systems include lightning rods, conductor cables, ground electrodes, utility bonding clamps (for water pipes, sprinkler and gas and/or oil pipes) and surge protection.
